Flores with the Komodo Island is the original habitat of this Komodo dragon, and it seems to have become a favorite destination visited by the traveler both at home and abroad. Many people flocked to this archipelago just to see firsthand the behavior of this extinct animal. In addition to its world-renowned beauty for successfully bearing the title of "New 7 Wonders of Nature" lined with other beautiful places around the world. The island is also part of UNESCO world heritage site because it belongs to the Komodo National Park along with Komodo Island, Padar Island and Gili Motang. Administratively, this island belongs to Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency, NTT.

But did you know that not only in Komodo Island alone you can see these ancient animals? Yes, on Rinca Island you can also see it. The island which is one part of this cluster of Komodo islands, it is also the original habitat of dragons with the second largest population of the Komodo island. Although the extent is smaller than the isle of Komodo, the population of about 1500 dragons will be more easily found on the isle of Rinca compared within Komodo. Actually in Island Padar also used to have a Komodo dragons, but the breaking of the food chain that causes the ecosystem on the island to be undeveloped so that in the end the population of the dragons became extinct.

Location, Rinca Island itself, is closer than Labuan Bajo when compared with Komodo Island, with the highest point of this island is in Doro (Mountain) Ora at an altitude of about 670 m under the sea level. Not only the Komodo only, but on this island also live various types of animals such as Komodo dragons, wild pigs, buffalo, and birds.

Komodo or often called with this giant lizard can we meet on Rinca Island. Initially, me and the group were going to Komodo Island, but our tour guide suggested to Rinca Island. Because at that time on the island of Komodo mating season.

When mating season comes, Komodo dragons go to the forest so it will be challenging to find them. We followed the advice of the tour guide.

Rinca Island is still within the Komodo National Park, approximately 2 hours from Labuan Bajo to Rinca Island.

Arriving at Rinca Island, we bought a ticket. While waiting for guidance from the ranger, we saw the animal skull display that is the victim of the hunt for Komodo dragons.

Ranger or Komodo handler to give directions to us to not far from the handler and be careful because this animal is dangerous. We chose a short route because in a group there was a small child.

Begin we enter the forest, not how long we can see the Komodo dragons are wandering. We are amazed and alert when watching these endangered animals.

After taking pictures with Komodo dragons within a safe distance of our journey continue to see the other Komodo dragons. Some of the Komodo dragons we met.

Once satisfied around Rinca Island we take a break in the cafeteria available there. This journey is a fun experience watching the Komodo dragons on the island of Rinca.
